  1. It’s with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my dear mother-in-love, Patricia “Onnie” Jenkins. I will forever cherish the memories of our time together, especially the way she affectionately called me “Giggles.” She always said I kept her son, Quack, out of trouble—something I’m proud to have done—but I know it was her love and strength that shaped him into the man he is today.

We spent countless hours laughing together, watching “Rifleman” and “Little House on the Prairie” with her always having a Reese’s candy bar in her hand. Those simple moments are what I’ll hold most dear. Onnie had a way of making me feel like family from the moment I met her. Her warmth, her humor, and her big heart will never be forgotten.

Onnie & I shared a bond that was truly special, and I will always value the love and laughter we shared together. I will continue to honor her memory and the joy she brought into our lives. Rest in peace, Ma—you were loved deeply, and I will miss you more than words can say.

    With love,
    Destiny Tillis

  2. Rest in peace Patricia. You will always be my best friend.

    Love you always,
    Evelyn Sibley Thompson

  3. I wish that I could have known Ms. Jenkins better. The occasions when I was able to spend time with her were usually accompanied by the commotion of grandkids playing and the coming and going of family. We rarely had the chance to talk for long before she needed to give her attention to one of the little ones. When we did get a chance to speak without interruption, she was always warm and welcoming. One of my favorite memories is laughing together while exchanging stories about Walker, Texas Ranger, or Little House on the Prairie. She always had a good time talking about her favorite shows!

As Ms. Jenkins faced the ups and downs of life, two things always stood out to me. First, she was unfailingly authentic when I spoke with her. There was never any pretense in our conversations – she liked what she liked, she spoke her mind, and she never sugar-coated her thoughts. I admired that transparency.

The second thing was her love for her family. This is what I will always remember the most.

Like any good mother and grandmother, there were times when she needed to redirect her little ones – even when that required a bit of good old-fashioned scolding. Watching her with her family often reminded me of my own grandparents and the effort they put into my life. We all need a firm hand and straight talk from time to time. Like all good matriarchs, her underlying motive was the love she had for each of her children and grandchildren and her desire to see them all flourish.

As I offer my condolences to the family, I hope your memories of her love will bring you comfort, just as your love for her was her greatest blessing. Thank you for loving Ms. Jenkins so well.
