Gwendolyn Joyce Franklin lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love, beginning her journey on February 10, 1952, in Fairfield, TX. Born to Ruby Faye Amerson and Louis Jarvis Sandifer, Gwen’s path led her to Fort Worth, TX, where she became a dedicated wife to Carl Ray Franklin and a nurturing mother to her children, Jamar Franklin, Carla Williams, Carmen Simmons, and Candice Reyes.
Gwen’s commitment to her beliefs was unwavering, as she found solace and community in various church families throughout her life’s journey. Her resonant voice uplifted congregations in song, her compassion touched the lives of many, and her infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew her.
Her legacy of love and service permeated through her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend. Gwen’s love for her family was evident in every moment spent together, with her grandchildren holding a special place in her heart as she embraced the role of “MeeMaw” with grace and affection.
On the night of October 3, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and embraced by the divine, Gwendolyn transitioned from mortality to immortality. As she joined the angels in eternity, Gwen was welcomed by cherished family members who had gone before her.
Gwendolyn’s memory will forever be cherished by her husband Carl, her children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness, humor, and unwavering faith.
The celebration of Gwendolyn Joyce Franklin’s life will commence with a Wake at The Ruby Chapel on October 10, 2024, at 6:00 pm. The following day, a Funeral Service will be held at Forest Hill Church Ministries at 12:00 pm, followed by her burial at Skyvue Memorial Gardens.
As we honor and pay tribute to a life well-lived, let us remember Gwendolyn with gratitude, reverence, and love. She has left an indelible mark on this world, and her presence will forever be cherished in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.
My prayers are with this beautiful family. Mother Franklin’s absence on this side of life will definitely be missed, but we find our hope that her life on earth mirrors her reward in heaven! Rest well Momma Franklin See you in the morning.
My condolences and prayers to the Franklin family.
My Condolences go out to the Franklin Family. We have known the Franklins many years. A very fine family. I love this family. It was Sis Gwen Franklin who went with me to Sam’s to purchase food for my son’s reception. Her mom knew how to cook in bulk and apparently taught her daughter. It was a success due to Sis Franklin’s expertise. The Lord be with you all. He is your comforter in times like these. Eld. Franklin came to my husband’s funeral in the midst of COVID. I just wanted to support them at this time.
Jamar, Carla, Carmen, & the entire Franklin family, My thoughts & prayers are with you. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord ππ«Άπ½π
