Kelvin Dewayne Nelson was born on April 18, 1964, in Fort Worth, to Charles Walker and Oma Faye Nelson. He was the fourth child of six children.
Kelvin, affectionately known as Kevin, “Cabbage Head,” and Bennie, completed his education at Como & Ridglea Elementary, Meadowbrook Middle School, and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1982. He was a proud member of the Poly Parrots ROTC and choir. He loved to sing and sang in many church choirs.
He attended college and earned his certificate as an X-ray Technician. He worked for Harris Hospital in Fort Worth and Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
Kelvin was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, DeAnn M. Nelson; his brother, Devilyon T. Nelson; and his lifelong partner, Frederick Sherrod.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother, Maximilian Nelson; his sisters, Cheryl Nelson and Robinette Nelson Wilburn (Tony); and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives, and friends.

Sending condolences to the Nelson family. Kelvin was a joy to be around. He had a kind heart and beautiful spirit. Our family met Kelvin some 40 plus years ago through our sister Krista Boyce Daniels. Every time we came to Ft. Worth, Kelvin always came to visit us. He will be missed. Rest in Heaven and continue to sleep in Heavenly Peace.
