In Loving Memory of Clarence “Big Daddy” Young born December 25,1948 – Departed May 6th, 2025.

Clarence Rufus Young, lovingly know as “Big Daddy” was born on Christmas Day, 1948 to Nettie Mae (Howard) Young and Edward “Bob” Young in Fort Worth, Texas. From the start, he was a gift to everyone who knew him-full of laughter, rhythm and a zest for life that never dimmed. He attended “The” Kirkpatrick High School where he graduated in 1967.

After graduation Clarence went on to marry and build a beautiful life with Sandra Akins (Young). Together, they raised three amazing sons-Andre, Ahmad and Adrian. He also welcomed a beautiful daughter, Jakkia later in life.

Clarence proudly served the Fort Worth Independent for over 30 years, retiring as the head of his department. His strong work ethic and leadership left a lasting impact. Even after retirement, Clarence wasn’t one to sit still-he went on to work side by side with his sons in the family business, continuing to perfect his trade.

Clarence had a Deep love for life. He was a lover of music, dancing, traveling, and living in the moment. Whether sharing a story, bobbing his head to a song, or cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, he lit up every room.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Wilson, and his baby brother Edward Young Jr. Clarence leaves behind his sons Andre (Nichol) Adrian (Cynthia), Ahmad (Akela) and his daughter Jakkia (Curtis); his sisters Bertha Isaac and Patricia Williams; aunt Eula Marie Pickens; his 9 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a village of cousins and friends who adored him.

Clarence “Big Daddy” Young will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His charm, his smile, his two step and one of a kind laugh will live on in all of us.
