  1. Sending condolences and prayers to the entire Southall and Thomas family during this time of mourning. Cousin DeeDee was a remarkable woman whose grace, strength and kindness touch everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. I will forever cherish the many memories we shared.

A life well lived and a legacy beautifully left. Rest in Paradise cousin DeeDee.

    With heartfelt sympathy,

    Destani Hill-Snell

  2. My heart is broken as God has called a true angel to rest. I will miss talking with you, sharing baby girl secrets and swapping shoes. I Corinthian f5:8 says “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” I’m confident that you are resting in the arms of Jesus. Your rest is well deserved. I love you and I will miss you.

  3. I am sending prayers, comfort, love, and strength to her husband, son, and the Southall and Thomas families. Dee Dee was a dear and close friend. I was devastated when I got the news, yet I began to reflect on how kind, generous, sweet, and remarkable a person she was. She lived her life as a believer, striving to emulate Jesus. Everyone who knew her will say she was the sweetest and kindest person. She was a gift-giver like Jesus. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that is not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” (KJV Ephesians 2:8-9).

She possessed an unwavering love for others and consistently offered help. I have known Dee Dee for 50 years (since the sixth grade). I moved to Dallas, and she opened her home to me. After I got my place, over the years, Dee Dee would suddenly call me on my birthday, inviting me to join her at Olive Garden for a celebratory lunch sometimes, but that is Dee Dee. She was always thinking of others. Dee Dee got married to Lawrence, and we embrace him as her husband. We observed her being that virtuous woman as she raised Benjamin. The Lord gave me comfort in knowing she is in a better place. Sometimes it is challenging when you lose those with whom you have built relationships over the years.

We must continue to trust God. God just needed another beautiful orchid flower in His garden. Remember, God’s grace will help you to continue in life when you lose a family member or a dear friend. Never underestimate the importance of each day. Sometimes things happen so unexpectedly, and you have to press into Jesus. I am so honored that God’s grace allowed me to spend time with Dee Dee and her family at the Christmas Men’s Musical. I want to remember her just like that: we were all at church giving God glory! Jesus is the Comforter! “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort” (KJV 2 Corinthians 1:3). Dee Dee, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the course, and you have kept the faith (KJV 2 Timothy 4:7). Luv ya! Rest well!

  4. Dee Dee,

It was so heartbreaking when I learned that God had called you home! You were absolutely one of the most pure hearted people that I’ve ever met! I am glad that God allowed our paths to cross! May you rest in heavenly peace!

    Your Cousin,

    Kim Nixon

  16. Even though I had not seen Dee Dee in years, she was one of my cousins from whom I always felt so much kindness and care. She was such a genuinely sweet woman and I felt that even as a little girl when I would interact with her at family functions. My heart sank when I read Tammi’s message of her transition. Too soon and too young to be gone. We will miss your loving and beautiful presence, Dee Dee. Happy heavenly birthday, cousin!
