Jewel Busby Freeman was born November 6, 1934 in Coolidge, Texas to the late Ollie Busby and Dorothy Howard. Our mother was brave she labored at many jobs growing up, alongside her parents who traveled around to find work. She was married once and widowed (June Freeman).

Grandma (Mom, Mother, Jewel, Hannah, Mother Freeman, and Miss Jewel) was a caring and loving God fearing woman, and she demonstrated it to her loved ones daily. Family and friends would come from near and far to eat her delicious food and she would make sure everybody ate. More than anything she loved being a mother and grandma; she also loved being a friend and was forever finding ways to help others that was her passion.

Jewel was a housekeeper and nanny to many families in Plainview, Texas and later in Fort Worth, Texas where she settled to finish raising 6 of her 7 children.

She became well known in her community and church. She served at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend Taylor in Fort Worth, Texas. She sang in the choir and spent countless hours helping with dinners and bake sales. She loved to support any efforts to help raise money for any of the church projects. After over 20 years of service at her church in Fort Worth she retired and moved to join 4 of her children in Broomfield, Colorado. Jewel served her church in Colorado faithfully as well. She was known as Mother Freeman at Word Alive Ministries in Thornton, Colorado. Pastor Randy, Pastor Veronica and the church family recognized her for her faithfulness to God and family.

Mom we cherish your memory and we will never forget the sacrifices you made so that we could have food, clothes and shelter.

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
