John Weldon Holt, was born on November 16, 1935, in Garrison, Texas Educated in Wichita Falls, Texas at Booker T. Washington High School served in the United States Army later transferring into the Army Reserves. He lived briefly in Salt Lake City Utah later moving to Los Angeles, California where he worked at the Museum in Long Beach California as a security guard. John Weldon Holt later in his career found himself working for the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department. He continues to move up in the ranks of the sheriff department in California. John Holt left California and moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where he was known as Captain Holt of the Wichita Falls, Sheriff Department. John Holt completed many training courses receiving numerous awards and honors through law enforcement. This helped him to be pro-efficient in his career at the sheriff department.

Throughout John Weldon Holt’s, life he believed that stewardship was in the community helping people. On any given day you could find John Holt delivering senior citizens Meals on Wheels where he received an award, cutting the grass of elderly, running errands, paying bills for elderly, helping friends and family were some of the various community activities he performed. John’s one his favorite saying was “Here’s Johnny” and his forte was helping people any way he could, and he was well known and loved in the Wichita Falls, Texas community. Held the position as President of the local lodge on the Eastside in Wichita Fall, Texas, Texas Chapter. John Holt relocated to Lancaster, Texas. and joined Friendship-West Baptist Church at 81 years old under the spiritual leadership of Dr. Frederick D. Haynes. This proved to be a historical moment due to never having a church home.  He was a member of OBLACC Ministry and ARJ  Senior Adult  Group and on several occasions sang in the Male Choir. Held the position of President of the local lodge on the Eastside in Wichita Fall, Texas, until his illnesses.

John W. Holt transitioned on May 2, 2018, at his home in Lancaster, Texas was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; daughter, Tonya Holt and siblings, Finis Holt Jr, Ernie Mae Holt-Waters, Palmer Holt, and Bobby Holt.

John Holt is survived by his six children, Brenda Holt Blue (Daniel Blue, Jr.) of Lancaster, Texas, Michael Andre Holt of  Los Angeles, California, Daphne Mackey and Sybil Jeffrey, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, John Holt of Mesquite, Texas and Racquel Holt of Grand Prairie, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
