Tremendous Teacher, Coach and Mentor of his students and athletes. He had real zeal and enthusiasm in everything he ever did which left an indelible impression on all of us who knew him. I loved him and I miss him but everything I learned from him will live on in me. “Do the Best you can with what you have then use what you have to get what you want” George Taplin Jr

He was a best friend of my late great grandfather so he spent a lot of time over to our house especially when my gramps got sick. Whenever my grandfather needed something after my grandma passed, and we weren’t readily available he was only a phone call away. His laugh was infectious and he had a personality that made it really hard to dislike him. Even if you got mad at him for a little while you could NOT stay mad. He did the honors of dressing my grandfather for his funeral almost 17 years ago and then I saw him one last time in 2020 during the pandemic. I told him I felt like a disappointment because I didn’t go to college but felt I still wanted to go. He gave me some encouragement and said it isn’t too late…So, at 28 taking his advice I enrolled and am graduating in October with my Bachelors at 31. Like so many of his time he was big on education and never missed an opportunity to make that known. I feel I’ve written a book here but he will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Praying for his wife & family as they prepare to adjust to a life without him ❤️

I worked with George Taplin after the Military, early to mid 80s at Eastern Hills, high school. He was my supervisor and was always available to provide advice and expertise. May he rest in peace.
