Freddie Mae “Fib” Davis was born on February 1, 1955, to Milton and Josephine Davis, in Centerville, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was educated by the Centerville School District, graduating from Centerville High School in 1973. Freddie moved to Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 19, to be closer to her father and to start new strong relationships with her step-mother, Marnell Davis and five new siblings.

In 1978, Freddie gave birth to her first child, Tonya Davis and in 1979, her baby girl, LaTasha Davis. In 1984, Freddie Mae married Mr. Bruce Ballard, Sr. and two years later, the union was blessed with their beloved son, Bruce Ballard, Jr.

Mrs. Ballard was a dedicated employee at Walmart for 11 years and along the way, she impacted many lives with her caring spirit. She was also a faithful worker in her former church, Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, by  being an Usher, Sunday School Teacher and Head of the Daycare Committee. She was also a faithful worker at her current church home, Mount Horum Missionary Baptist Church, where she assisted in the kitchen and where ever she could assist. In her spare time , “Fib” loved to sew and knit, to show her love when a loved one was being born or if she just felt the need to be generous. In her retirement, she would have an endless stream of friends dropping in to offer support, strength and comfort, when times got rough. She made friends easily and no one forgot her. Her presence would light up a room.

On Saturday, July 7, 2018, Freddie Mae “Fib” Davis Ballard surrendered to the call of the Lord and
transitioned from earth to glory. She is preceded in death by her parents, Milton Davis and Josephine Butler and two brothers, Melvin Davis and Rodrick Newhouse.

Those left to cherish Freddie’s precious memories are: her beloved son, Bruce Ballard, Jr.; her loving daughters, Tonya and LaTasha Davis; her loving stepmother, Marnell Davis; brothers, Michael Newhouse and Cedric Clayborn (Peggy); sisters, Sylvia Saddler (Timothy) and Marcia Steele (Kenneth); loving sisters-in-law, Ruby Nell Gay, Kymyum Newhouse and Olene Davis; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and a host of other relatives and friends.
