A true WOMAN – Mrs. Starr taught me so very much growing up under her working at the JPS – ER starting in 1981 at 19 years old. She knew her job – people and her purpose in life. Her love for God showed in her daily walk and she was always a wealth of knowledge about ANYTHING. Even when she corrected it was with dignity and concern that you were taught the right way to handle things even personal life issues. I cherish the memories that I have of Mary Lucille Starr, LVN – my mentor but most of all My Friend! Praying for the family.
My heart is broken that my beloved friend and mentor is gone but I am at peace knowing she is with her lord. Lucille taught me and many before and after me how to be an ER nurse. She used to tell me, “look her little girl, I was doing this when you were in diapers”. No truer words were ever spoken. She raised many a good nurse and doctor. She would tell them, “let me tell you something little boy, you will listen to me now, or you will listen to me later, but you will listen to me!” And they did! She loved those Starr boys and I counted them as my brothers. I will cherish our friendship and her mentorship for the rest of my life. Thanks for sharing her with all of us. She has earned her angel wings.
