It was a Wednesday January Day in Nineteen Hundred and Sixty Four, The Twenty-Ninth to be precise, The Reverend Willie and Pearlie Harris, Sr. welcomed into their home, a bouncing baby boy. They named him John Fitzgerald Harris.

ÂHe accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by his father, the Late Pastor Willie Harris, Sr., at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church. There, John sung in the choir and served on the Usher Board.

ÂHe received his formal education through the Fort Worth Independent School District, where he attended Sunrise Elementary, Dunbar Middle School and Dunbar High School.

ÂLater in life, John united with Another Chance Ministries, where he served in the Men’s Ministry, under the leadership of Pastor Tommy L. Brookins. He was truly faithful unto death.

ÂDuring his life, John was employed with TexStar as a Machinist for a short time. As a young boy, John, Bill and their father could be found Pigeon Hunting and fishing all night long. In his adult years, John had a love for cooking, barbequing and making pastries. His specialty was 7-Up Cake. He enjoyed playing dominoes and spades and would often be heard saying “You keep your books, and I’ll keep mine”. The Dallas Cowboys was his favorite team and when they would make a touchdown, John would holler out “Seven Dice”. He had a way with his sayings, that nobody understood, yet they admired.

ÂHis heart was his only child, his daughter, Tamara, whom he fathered with Miss Jacqueline Clark. He later found the love of his life, Jackie Franklin and was engaged to be married, at the time of his demise.

ÂOn Sunday Morning at 8:27am, the Lord whispered John’s name. He heard his voice and took his hand into a land that never grows old. He was greeted at the gate by his beloved parents, Pastor Willie and Pearlie Harris, Sr. and two brothers, Mark Harris and Willie James Harris, I.

ÂLeft in God’s Care are: his loving daughter, Tamara Clark-Drummer and husband, Trey; his grandson, Ja’ckory Clark; his devoted fiancee’, Jackie Franklin; his beloved siblings, The Reverend William “Bill” Harris, The Reverend Joyce Harris-McKinley, Ora “Renea” Harris-Barton, Minister Sheila Harris-Toombs and husband Reginald, Mona Kissentaner and
husband Gerald, and Willie James Harris, Jr. and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives, cousins and friends.
