On the summer day of June 16, 1946 in Kaufman, Texas, a bouncing baby girl was born to the parentage of Leroy and Berlitha Hayward Blanton. They named this little bundle of joy Ola Mae Blanton. She grew up in Kaufman for part of her childhood, until relocating to Fort Worth, Texas. She was educated by the Fort Worth Independent School District and graduated with the Lion’s Pride of Como High School.

Having confessed her belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, Ola Mae united into fellowship as a member of Strangers Rest Baptist Church, where she was baptized. In 1966, she married the love of her life, Mr. Edward Washington. The two of them remained inseparable for 52 years, until the Lord called her home. Ola worked as a waitress at the Blue Star Restaurant.

Ola Mae Blanton was called to Glory on February 21, 2018, with her family by her side. She went to sleep on this side and when she woke up on the other side, she was welcomed by her father and mother, Leroy and Berlitha Hayward Blanton and three of her brothers, Leroy Blanton, Jr., James Ray and Joseph Blanton.

Those she now watch over from above are her beloved husband, Edward Washington; her only son, Anthony Smith; her three daughters, Jackie Moore, Tabitha Washington and Michelle Huckaby and spouse Maurice; brother, James Blanton; five sisters, Verda Medford, Ruby Smith, Emma Odom, Sarah Johnson and Erma Jean; sisters–in law, Joyce Ann Holmes, Gladys Amie and Janice Washington; very special friend, Mrs. Mary Clerkly and a host of relatives and friends.
