Sister Ruthie Mae Rogers Carter was born November 7, 1954, to the late Henry Rogers Sr. and Flora Mae Rogers in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
She confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor L.W. Lawson. Upon relocating to Texas, she united with the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, under the leadership of Dr. William T. Glynn.
Ruthie attended college at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) as well as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), and Graduated from Southeast Arkansas College, (SEA)
Ruthie discovered her passion for serving people at an early age while working at her father’s restaurant: “Henry’s Chicken Shack”. Her passion inspired her to become a Registered
Medical Assistant, which enabled her to meet many people who kept in touch and loved her dearly.
As life would have it, on November 15, 1974, Ruthie would marry Eddie Gene Carter, whom later became an ordained minister and Pastor, leading her to be First Lady of several churches; and at the time of her demise, New Faith Church in Dallas, Texas. Ruthie enjoyed serving alongside her husband and became “Mom” to many; both young and old, because of her motherly advice.
On Tuesday evening, January 16, 2018, our Lord and Savior sent His Heavenly Angels to take His Daughter home. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ricky Rogers.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her Husband of 43 years, Pastor Eddie G. Carter of Mansfield, Texas; Her Son Pastor Cedric L. Carter, and wife Stephanie of Mansfield, Texas. Her Daughter, Kenya T. Carter of Mansfield, Texas; Her three heart beats were her grand-children, Evan Christian Carter, Gavin Timothy Carter and Chloe Grace Carter (Granny’s baby); Her Brothers Henry Rogers, Jr. of Cedar Hill, Texas and Mark Grier of Chicago, Illinois. Her Inseparable Sisters, Betty Rogers Jordan of Kansas City, Missouri; Carolyn Johnson of Euless, Texas; Peggie Harrison of Akron, Ohio; Denise Rogers of Atlanta, Georgia, Janell Henderson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and church family.
Although Ruthie and I didn’t speak often, she and her family were always in my thoughts and prayers.She was a lovely person, a good cook, a good wife, a good mother and granny but most of all she was a woman of God!!
Pastor Carter and family just know that I love you all and pray for peace and comfort in Jesus’ name, Amen.
